A tractor

Here’s a tiny tractor doing a hard days work in a field near Revinge, Scania.

Please press for the biggie:)

Scania

I found more pictures from the hot air balloon ride to show you. Today we take a look at a small part of Skrylle and the huge quarry situated beside it. In the far distance lies Malmö and the Öresund bridge, basking in the morning sun.

This picture is quite big and needs to be viewed in its full size. Please press:)

Foggy

Some two years ago my girlfriend and I did a small trip in a hot air balloon. I’ve shown you a few pictures before but now I think it’s time for some more. If you like it and want to see the rest of them, please check out the dedicated category for that adventure:)

Horizontal balloon

At first it felt like our captain of the balloon had misunderstood some vital and major points regarding flying a hot air balloon. I remember an anxious thought that went through my head as we futilely dragged at the rope: Are we supposed to drag it all the way?!;) Fortunately I was proven wrong and a few moments later we were airborne:)

Ok. Everybody ready?  Liftoff in 10, 9…

Satellites

Satellites – So this is what the Americans peek at. I really don’t see what all the fuss is about;)

Heart

There are a few more pictures left from our ride with the hot air balloon. This could very well be one of the best pictures I’ve ever taken, at least if you’re asking me;) I actually didn’t see the resemblance to a heart in the trees until I got home and looked at the pictures on my computer.

The view

This is as high as we got during the hot air balloon ride we did in the beginning of June. The view from 450-500 meters was indeed staggering: In the west Copenhagen spread out before our eyes and in the south the coast and Trelleborg was clearly visible. All around fields and forests stretched out underneath us and we wished we could stay there for a long time. The village in the middle is Södra Sandby and beyond that Lund. On the left is the quarry in Skrylle.

Breathtaking, huh?:)

Two lakes

There are a few more pictures left to show from the wonderful hot air balloon ride I did with my girlfriend. As previously mentioned we started off from outside of Revinge and the pictures I’ve shown so far were taken in the direction we were going. In this one is however the camera turned 180 degrees and the view is quite different. The lake farthest away is called Vombsjön and the one closest to the camera is called Krankesjön. What I’m most pleased with in this picture must be the composition of the various sorts of clouds and the way that they are reflected in the calm lakes:)

In the mist

Once again we take to the air. This is from the beginning of our hot air balloon ride and shows the fields and various patches of trees amongst the thin vail of the morningmist outside of Revinge. At the horizon the city Malmoe, the Torso and the Oresund bridge is lit by the morningsun.

The church of Holmby

Good morning everybody. Hope you had a nice midsummer’s eve even though it was quite rainy. I managed to have a nice evening in the good company of some friends and even had the good fortune of finding a gap in the rain for our barbecue:)

The hot air balloon ride with my girlfriend continues. This shot was taken at a quarter past six in the morning. An early farmer is watering his fields in the middle of the picture. To the left is the small village of Holmby with its white church. The small river that flows in the foreground is of course Kävlingeån. We’re pretty high up in the air. How high, I cannot tell but it could be something like 250-300 meters.

Green fields

For those out there who hasn’t figured it out yet we’re back in the air and the hot air balloon ride. Up until know the camera has been pointing due south but today it’s focusing on the northern-ish part of our trip. Whereas the southern part was covered in morning mist the northern part was clearer and a faint morning sun has just begun its new day of work. I’m quite pleased with this picture and I especially like all the different shades of green in the fields and in the trees.

Mirror

The real ascend has now begun. I actually don’t know what height we’re at and I’m not sure what we’re looking at but I like the mirror-like qualities of the small pond in the picture.

Middle earth

Another shot from the air outside of Revinge. The balloon is a bit higher in the air now and we’re looking at what I can only describe as something that seems to be taken from Tolkien’s wonderful world of Middle Earth. The mist reaches out in long streaks and completes that picture. At least for me;)

Air strip

We’re back in the air outside of Revinge. The hot air balloon is still flying relatively low, one hundred meters or so. In the far distance the morning sun has begun to shine on the fields. Closer to us the morning mist is still visible in some places. The road in the lower part of the picture is the old military airstrip just outside of Revinge and from countless stories I’ve been told about friends and their cars and all kinds of speed records I guess it remains to be impressed by our slow and gentle pace;)

Morning light

Here’s the first picture from yesterdays hot air balloon trip. It was taken shortly after takeoff at six o’clock in the morning. What you see are the first rays of sunshine over an old mist covered military practise field. The road in the right corner is the old military air strip which is now part of the road between Revinge and Södra Sandby.

Taking off

Today’s post is a tad late but the day has been somewhat chaotic so I hope you forgive me. The day started pretty early at 03.30 when my girlfriend and I got up to eat a quick breakfast. At 05.00 we stood at a field outside the village of Revinge and received instructions on how to get our hot air balloon off the ground and into the air. The fields were still covered in morning dew and a fine, but rather cold, mist embraced us. Close to six we climbed aboard and joined the suprised birds in their element.

We gently rose above the treetops and floated silently through the air. The sounds from the world below were clearly audible for us but where we were there were no sounds apart from the burners as they filled the balloon with additional hot air from time to time.

The day was beautiful and we realized that opting for the morning trip rather than the one in the evening was the right choice to make. It’s hard to describe in words what we saw and experienced during the hour we where up in the air but it was so beautiful and touching I cannot recommend it enough for you to try.

Anyway, the balloon kept floating through the air and took us over the fields close to Revinge. After that it set course for Södra Sandby which happens to be the town where I grew up. It was at this point our “captain” took us close to 500 meters up into the air. The view from there was nothing but spectacular! We saw Copenhagen, looked down at the Turning Torso and the entire south coast was clearly visible with Trelleborg and so on. We were informed that it wasn’t very often that visibility was this good so we were really lucky. Let me assure you, it was breathtaking.

After Södra Sandby our trip unfortunately came to an end but I promise, this wasn’t the last time we flew in a hot air balloon:)

Today’s picture is taken as the balloon gets a new burst of hot air form the burners. I’ll return with more pictures from the trip over the next couple of days:)
