Signs

Da na na na…

Muahahahaha! Today the “evil laugther” fits perfectly because I predict that all day long you’ll be humming along to this cheesy tune back from 1990. I dare you ;)

special thanks to R for the help when my brain was in sleep mode;)

Sign

I’m writing this at close to two a clock in the night and I’m rather tired so I’m afraid the post won’t be much longer than this. A song will be up later today, most likely:) Have a great start on the new week:)

Refuse

I found this sign in Malmoe the other day and I decided to post it. Not because it’s a particularly difficult picture or anything. I just like the stubbornness of it all:)

Signs

I can’t say what, if anything, this sign means but I’ll settle for enjoying the view while having both feet securely planted on land;)

Windmill

You don’t see that many windmills in Scania nowadays, at least not in as good condition as this one. I can’t remember the exact place where I took the picture but the view was stunning from there. I kind of wished I had snapped a shot in that direction as well because the land stretched out for many kilometers with lots of fields and small farms in between them.

10-30

Here’s an old sign beside the railway we went to this weekend. The last time trains used these old tracks was back in 1980. In other words: It’s quite easy to see that this aging sign has gone way beyond it’s “best-before-date” but that didn’t stop it from catching my interest:)

Peace

Here’s another picture from this weekend’s biking trip. It is taken on a spot which is very dear to me. I grew up not that far from there and I’ve spent a lot of time in that region. What I hadn’t seen before though is the peace sign someone has made from rocks shown in the picture.

The reason for the rock in the lower part of the picture being so blurry is that I was actually standing on a high cliff overlooking the grass-covered valley at its foot, some 20-25 meters below me.

Hibernation

There is still a lot of snow in Lund and that gave me an idea for a picture which I wanted to try out as quickly as possible because you never can tell how long the snow stays around for. So, once again I set out for the botanical gardens and tried to make the idea I had into reality.

At the botanical gardens there are a lot of wonderful greenhouses but just as beautiful are the gardens they have in the surrounding areas. They are, however, probably more beautiful in the summer although I must say that I think they have a certain beauty all year round. Anyway, the idea I had was to capture just that. How the gardens look in the middle of winter with its cold grasp of the plants and the lonely signs, with the different names of the plants, pointing towards the naked treetops and above that a grey and harsh winter sky.

The quarry

This picture was taken a while ago in an old quarry around 10 kilometers south-east of Lund. It has been abandoned for many years and now serves as a recreation spot for people. There is amongst other things a horrible and murky lake you can swim in. I wouldn’t do it though and I can’t say that I recommend it. The water being dreadfully cold all year round not being my only concern.

What brings me to that area? Well, I’m there for the pain. I usually go there with my mountain bike so that I can make nasty and horrible falls and hurt various parts of my body;)

All jokes aside, the place feels like a safe haven to me. I grew up not long from there and coming there with my bike or just walking around is almost like coming home.

When in Lund

I don’t believe I have mentioned it yet but this blog is being written in a town called Lund situated in the southern part of Sweden. The following picture is for you who aren’t familiar with the town itself. There are a few sights in this city you just can’t afford to miss if you visit. More or less all of them are named in the streetsign.

The picture itself was more of a test on my behalf. I went there today and what I set out to do was take a picture of the wall, which I think have a fantastic look, with the old building-parameters still visible. I thought the sign would appear more “blurry” but I couldn’t get that to work . In my head I saw focus on the wall and a sign where you could just barely make out what it said. None the less I think the picture has some qualities.

Why posting it if I’m not that pleased?

Well, as I mention in “about me”, I’m here to learn more and improve my technique. In order to do that I was wondering if someone out there has any ideas what I could do to make it the way I wanted to do it. What can I do different?

Thankful for any help.

Road Signs

One day I was out driving in the country outside of Lund. Suddenly I saw a smaller road on my right side with all these signs on one side. I didn’t even have my camera with me but since I wasn’t that far from home I drove home to collect it. The signs says “vägarbetsområde” which roughly translates into “roadworkarea” in English. My guess is that they were supposed to begin on heck of a big work, considering the amount of signs at the place;)
