Spring & summer

Hven

Better half of the weekend was spent at the lovely little Island in the middle of Öresund called Hven. The first day wasn’t that great weather wise but Sunday was amazing and the spring colors really came to life. The bike took us basically all over the island and we saw a lot of nice things, including the scene below with a deer walking along a hedge.

Spring

Honestly, I couldn’t care less about what the meteorologists say or how many sunny and warm days we’ve had over the last couple of weeks. Spring in Lund doesn’t really occur until our delicious sofa, table and chair have been taken down from the attic. That day is today so from 09:00 hrs spring is finally here. Officially;)

Reflections

Summer is over and a cold wind seems to blow straight through our clothes. At times like this it’s nice to look back and remember what it was like not that long ago.

Tracks

This photo was taken at one of the many trips that I made on my bike during this summer.

Depth of field

Today’s post arrives a bit later than usual. I tribute this to a mysterious phenomenon with my modem that occurred yesterday after I did an electrical installation in the kitchen. This makes me think that it was a good thing that I left that business before hurting myself or anyone else;) Anyway. Internet just returned so all is good here. Good is also how I feel when looking at the picture below. It’s another picture from the trip to Söderåsen a while back but I must say that I really like the fallen tree that disappears in the upper left corner. I think it gives the picture a very nice depth.

Please press for the natural resolution.

The leaf

The summer is back for a couple of days. Yesterday evening, at around half past nine, I was on the way back home from a spinning class and I was able to ride the bike in nothing more than a t-shirt (and pants;). It’s almost October and so crazy but I love it:). To keep that summery and warm feeling going a few more days I thought a picture of a green and lush forest would be just the trick.

The forest

Another picture showing the view from Kopparhatten at Söderåsen. It’s almost hard to believe that this was taken in Scania:)

Please press for full version.

Moss

Here’s another picture showing the ravine at Söderåsen. I really enjoyed seeing it and I like the picture as well. When walking there I almost expected to see an elf or a troll watch me from behind a tree or the moss-covered rocks;)

Planks

The canyon at Söderåsen that I mentioned the other day is easy to walk through thanks to all the planks that has been put there. Oh, how I wish I had been a guide at that place. If so, I would’ve started every tour by shouting “All a board”;)

The waterfall

In Scania we’re not that spoiled with huge waterfalls. We have Forsakar on the east coast but after that I can think of nothing that can match this “impressive” one that I found at Söderåsen the other day;)

The brook

This weekend summer was back for a short visit in Scania. This was great since we had planned a trip to Söderåsen during the Sunday. We are relatively new to this wonderful and beautiful place in Scania and have focused our walking to the edges around the ravine. This time we had decided to take the walk back to civilisation in the bottom of the ravine near the brook. The view on top of the ridge is of course magnificent but following the lush vegetation close to the water was very nice and a welcome break from all the climbing.

Hovs Hallar

The bicycle ride I told you about yesterday also took us to the majestic cliffs of Hovs Hallar. It sure is a spectacular scene, the way the cliffs meet the ocean and, as you can see, there were more people than the two of us who enjoyed the scenery. Although our view was great I suspect their view was even greater;)

Knösen

My girlfriend and I took the train to Båstad with our bikes the other day. We rode them from Båstad along the coast all the way around Bjärehalvön to finally end up in Ängelholm. In the picture below we’ve just climbed the hills northwest of Båstad. That adventure took us pretty close to the top of Knösen, some 154 meters high and let me tell you, it was actually pretty hard in the steep hills with nothing but an old bike without any gears. The view over the landscape and Laholmsbukten was however spectacular making it definitely worth the few drops of sweat:)

70

Further harsh budget cuts in Scania have resulted in cutbacks on some of the roads;)

Fir trees

While taking this picture I helped the local population of mosquitoes to stay alive but man did it itch!

Hues of green

Whoa! What happened to this day? A tad late but here’s a field rapport (;) of what the fields outside of Lund looks like at the moment.

The windmill

We continue on the theme of summer even though it’s less than six months to Christmas;)

Glad midsommar

Today we celebrate midsummer in Sweden. Tomorrow we focus our attention on the upcoming fall and winter;) I had to go to the archives in order to find something even remotely close to a picture with a touch of summer in it. I came up with this picture, showing the castle of Trolleholm, built in 1424 in Scania.

Glad midsommar alla:)

The bench

If you haven’t visited Alnarpsparken yet I urge you to go there as soon as possible. It is very big, lush with trees of all sizes and it has many open fields amongst the trees, just waiting for your picnic;)

The balloon

Yesterday I was cleaning up in my livingroom when I heard a familiar sound. I stepped out on to the balcony and saw this years first hot air balloon coming in low over my house. My girlfriend and I flew with one of those some years ago but we just have to do it again when possible. It was truly amazing to float silently in the air like that. I have a special section from that adventure over here. Anyway. As I looked up into the sky I saw the most beautiful cloud formations which can be seen in part below. I’ll show you more of it the next couple of days:)

As Yoda would have said, “press you must”

Rays of light

Here’s another picture from the bike ride that I took the other day. Not that much to say about this one, just that I like the effect of the rays as the penetrate the dark clouds.

Barren and not

Yesterday I babysat a cat in Staffanstorp and, naturally, I got there by bike. I stopped on the way to take some pictures and this one is one of them. I like the two trees on the right the most, followed by the different shades of green and the clouds in the sky. Hmm, to sum it up I guess I like most of it;)

And, since nobody helped me when I asked, I’ll keep on letting you know when to press for a bigger version:)

The beach

I guess the beach will be a bit more crowded today than in the picture below with everybody free from work and glorious weather on top of that. Have a nice day but remember the sunblock:)

Twisted

If you still haven’t visited Trollskogen in Skrylle you just have to go there as soon as possible. It’s a big and lovely deciduous forest with a patch of very rare trees called spiral beeches. Apparently it can only be found only here in Sweden and two places in the northern part of Germany. I think you can see for yourself what makes this tree special:)
