Water

The other day I noticed a funny phenomenon when brushing my teeth. If the faucet in the bathroom is set just right the water creates some kind of air bubble that remains there for as long as the water is running. The green stuff are reflections from some towels and a soap dispenser.

Water

Water is life. Every drop is valuable and it’s easy to understand that scientists predicts that water is going to be one of the big questions to solve in the future. I just read that, by the end of this year, we’re going to be over seven billion people on this planet. That is scary to me but hopefully something will be done about the balance and distribution of those precious drops. We have freshwater in abundance over here but many countries have little or even less to its citizens. The biq question is if the developed countries are prepared to lower their standards in order to help the unfortunate countries.

A drop of water is life but running water is a powerful force to be reckoned with. Erosion constantly changes the country around us. The water and glaciers creates canyons on land while the oceans eats up the beaches on some places and makes new ones on others. The water can also be harnessed and every day power plants, driven by water, delivers power to our cities and factories. The water can also be used on a minor scale, as in the picture below. This small brook, for example, used to run a small saw mill in Ystad.

Water truly is life.

Bulbs

We’re still on the sun deck of the ship but this time the camera was pointed at a window looking down to the deck below and the lamp hanging from that ceiling. The big window that I’m looking down through is shaped like a dome and the reflection is clearly seen in the different light bulbs.

Romanesco broccoli

Here’s a somewhat strange vegetable I stumbled upon when walking the streets of Gilleleje. It’s called Romanesco broccoli, or Roman cauliflower and I think it looks great. I know it’s not the best of pictures but I took it in a rush and the surroundings was quite dark so please be patient. As soon as I find one in Lund I’ll bring it home to the studio for a better photo:)

The web

As a device for catching flies or whatnot the functionality of this web could be questioned but at least the spider gave it a shot;)

Magnifier

Today is a new day and yesterdays problems are gone. Kind of;) Not much to say about today’s picture. A leaf with a drop of water on but the magnifying effect of the drop is quite cool.

Drop

This weekend certainly had lovely weather set aside for us and when it’s this good, fall suddenly doesn’t seem like such a big hassle anymore. Let’s hope it stays like this for a little while longer, shall we?:) We’ll continue on the theme of “fall” but this time as in falling, which is what the drop on this leaf is about to do;)

press for the biggie!

Breakfast

As I sat with my breakfast yesterday I noticed the sun as it shone on two drops of water that I had spilled on the table. A very simple picture but nice even so:)

Ear-itating

Yes, irritating sure is the word! Just like the shell on the beach is broken, so are my ears. Well, sort of anyway;) This morning I woke up with an inflammation in both of them and it actually hurts a bit. Even worse is the fact that my hearing seems to have gone on vacation and everything I hear tends to sound from something stuck way down in a barrel. Apart from that I’m fine but the weekend will probably be quite calm over here. Hope yours turn out nice:)

Grass

I wanted to post a song today but at the moment I’m totally out of ideas but I think I will be back later for that. At the moment enjoy this straw of grass, especially the ones of you out there with allergies;)

Speaker

Sometimes there’s no end to the adventures I go through in order to bring you the best pictures on the internet;) Today was however far from being one of those days. This picture was taken sitting in the same chair as I sit in when writing this so the day was quite safe without any stress for me or my dear camera:)

10.000

Woot! Just hit the magic number of 10.000 visitors here. This is perhaps not the best known or most visited site out there but thank you very much for visiting, and continuing to do so. Your comments and support is what makes this so much fun for me:)

Mercury

On a day like this, when the rain is pouring down outside, it is perhaps fitting to show a picture of a drop of water on a leaf?

Totally offtopic: Bara i USA kan man lämna in en sån här stämningsansökan utan att bli totalt utskrattad:)

Lights

As I predicted the snow didn’t stay for very long this time either. It rarely does here in the south of Sweden and it’s something of a shame because it gets so much easier coping with the darkness of a long winter. At this point I’m more or less ready to throw out the Christmas tree but the adventsstjärnor and adventsljusstakar in my apartment stays a little bit longer. (Terribly sorry about the Swedish words in the middle of it all but I simply cannot find a translation for the two words. Your help is hearby requested!;)

The reason for mentioning them here is that I took a picture of one of them last night and behold, here’s the result.

Grass

After a couple of days with pictures in darker colors or even black and white, we’re back in style with this close up of a green at Romeleåsens golfklubb taken a year or so ago. I can only speak for myself but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a patch of grass with this sharpness or contrast. Not that bad, or what do you think?:)

Deserted

This is as minimalistic as they come I guess, both regarding picture and text:)

Drops

I have many plants in my apartment and if it’s one thing I don’t like that much it’s watering them. As I did the mundane chore yesterday I happened to spill some water on top of one of them and “wollaa”, as the French say;), I had a picture for you.

Camera lens

Not that much to say about this one. It’s a close up of one of my camera lenses. Have a nice weekend:)

Grasshopper

Do you realize how much your patience gets tested when trying to take a picture of a tiny grasshopper? I mean, they certainly didn’t get the “hopper” part in the name by just sitting and relaxing in the grass! I’m actually glad that I finally got one to be still for more than a nano second because this means that I’ll never have to go through that ordeal again;)

Dancing

I’m actually in dire need of some rest so I’ll have to make this one a quickie. You remember the drops from a couple of weeks ago? Here’s another shot from that session. To me it almost looks like the two tiny pillars of water is dancing with eachother.

Shell 2.0

Here’s the shell from the other day, back in a slightly different angle and in a sort of a close-up shot. I like the texture of it as well as the glossy center but perhaps what gives it the best look is the filth that has been ground down into the small crevices.

Below todays picture is another version. Not so much a good picture as a funny one. My cat Mini is, as all cats, very curious and it was somewhat of a battle to keep her away from the shell;)

Smoke

Here’s the result of an idea that I had a couple of days ago. Back then I was actually trying to take some pictures of some lit candles to post here later in December. I know, that’s quite corny and not a very original idea, but I wanted to get you all in a Christmas kind of mood;) Well, they didn’t turn out exactly as I expected but later that evening this idea you see below in the photo struck me.

I hadn’t any time then to set up my “photo studio” again but today I had and I must say that I really like these kind of minimalistic pictures. I like the green candle against the black background and I think the smoke rising from the candle looks just a little bit awesome:)

Shell

The other day I was out by the west coast to try and take some new pictures. As I walked around there close to the sea I stumbled upon this shell which I brought home to my very own professional photo studio. My “studio” in this case was a lip balm to balance the shell on and a black t-shirt to use as a background;)

Drop 1.1

I’ve already told you about my experiments in the kitchen the other day and here’s one of the other pictures that turned out ok from that session.
