The 27th of January is the international memorial day for the victims of the Holocaust. My girlfriend and I honor this very special day by first watching “Dom över död man” which is Jan Troells latest movie and tells the story about Torgny Segerstedt and the ways he defied the Germans by publishing controversial articles in Göteborgs Handels och Sjöfartstidning from 1933 until 1945. After the movie we’re heading over to Kulturen where a lecture will be held followed by an exhibition.

The picture was taken in Kazimierz which is a historical district of Kraków best known for being home to a large Jewish community from the 14th century on until the Holocaust in the Second World War. I haven’t published this picture before because of the horror it describes. Imagine 88 members of your family being wiped out with two poor souls remaining? How could something like this ever happen? That was the fate of just one family but happened to countless others. Over and over again. For many years.
